peloton-Aldinga-Beach-stageWhat I love about art is that it is all in the eyes of the beholder.

Everyone has there own opinion, definition & interpretation: there is no black or white answer
– just 50 shades of grey!

But for me it is something else completely.

In a frantic busy world dominated by the urgent and unimportant, great art is about 2 things, quiet contemplative experience and secondly, capturing the essence of a slice of time and place.

For me the real fun of visual art is taking the quiet silent time to allow the work to create an inner solitary silence, something that makes me stop and think, to contemplate, that challenges my thinking and creates deep feelings
– it gets me out of my comfort zone and takes me on a journey to the unknown.

Good art marks the difference between a simple memory and a dream full of emotion
– the difference between a fleeting glimpse and a lasting memory.

It is also something that captures the essence of the mood, feel & character of a place and time in a way that a photo never can. It translates & transforms the 1D physical into the 3D feeling and emotional
– it transports us to another place on the journey from thoughts to feelings in a way that no other medium can ever achieve to same level of depth and emotion.

I am thrilled the Willunga Hill Art Group first exhibition for 2014 has a “Tour Down Under” theme.  A great opportunity for our local artists to create a slice of time and place – our place.  It would be great to see young and experienced artists portray their view of this renowned local event.  Enter your work into this exhibition – for more information contact Anne Cross on 0451 675 505 or email.
