Thank you – both the visitors who came to our coast, and the residents of Aldinga Bay who put on such a great display for the the Tour Down Under 2017 event. From decorating their homes, streets and turning up in such numbers to the Tour Down Under market at Snapper Point, participating in the festivities and bringing such sharing and goodwill to this event, broadcast around the world. Without this essential participation, the event would not exist.
Secondly, to the stallholders for making it such a memorable day with your colourful wares and enticing food and drink. It was all a riot of colour and energy and friendliness.
Next, to the volunteers of ABBTA for implementing the community’s will to stage this event by way of time, energy and hard work during the lead up to Saturday and especially the night before when we all arrived at Snapper Point and commenced setup. These are Graham and Susan Benger as well as Phil Sanders who aided us on Friday and Saturday with Gavin and Jackie on Friday night. Others whose names we didn’t catch and we thank you.
Fourthly, to the Committee of ABBTA who moved on the desire that led to the effort to make our small but widely known, event possible. Working in conjunction with council they planned and staged the sequence of entertainment, ran the Pop Up Pub and organised things generally. These are; Chair and Councillor Hazel Wainwright, Secretary Martin Howells, Vice Chair Jess Sweet, Tourism Director Nahid Aliakbari, Office Manager Heather Sanders, Committee members Roma Howells and Matt Rycroft who did much behind the scenes and as always, looming behind him, the figures of Godfather and Joker.
Thank you also to the riders for making it such a thrilling event! Below are some of the many photos taken that day.
